Can lactose intolerance cause weight loss?

Losing weight unintentionally for the past few months has been concerning, especially since I also have severe lactose intolerance. My doctor suggested it might be connected. Can having lactose intolerance actually lead to weight loss?

Yes, it can cause weight loss because your body fails to absorb nutrients due to constant diarrhea and gut irritation. Since I manage my diabetes carefully, I know how critical gut absorption is. Make sure you are replacing lost calories with safe, low-glycemic, dairy-free options.

Actually yes, yaar. My cousin lost almost 6 kgs in two months because anything he ate containing dairy would just give him severe loose motions. He became so weak because his body wasn't absorbing anything. Definitely get it checked by a doc.

Well, if you spend half your day running to the washroom because of that cup of chai, you are bound to lose weight! But seriously, it drains your energy completely. Time to ditch the dairy and save your gut.

Look, if your gut is constantly irritated and you have frequent loose motions, you are bound to lose weight. It's not healthy weight loss either, it is just muscle and nutrient loss. Stop eating dairy immediately and go see a doctor to heal your stomach.

Don't just assume sudden weight loss is simply due to lactose intolerance. Significant weight loss can be a sign of celiac disease, IBD, or other serious malabsorption disorders. Skip the online self-diagnosis and get a proper clinical evaluation done.
