Can i take vitamin'd during pregnancy?

My doctor mentioned checking my Vitamin D levels at my last appointment. If they are low, is it okay to take Vitamin D supplements when you are pregnant? I want to make sure it's safe for the baby.

Haan, bilkul le sakte hain, actually Vitamin D toh pregnancy mein baby ki bones ke liye bohot zaroori hota hai, na. But khud se heavy dose mat shuru karna, ek baar doctor se dosage pooch lena.

Back in the day, people just sat in the sun, but now we need pills for everything, including Vitamin D! It's generally safe and recommended during pregnancy, but do get a doctor's nod before starting so you don't overdo it.

Please make sure to consult your doctor before starting Vitamin D. I had some blood pressure complications during my third trimester, and my doctor had to carefully monitor all my supplements. Never self-medicate during pregnancy.

Beta, sitting in the mild morning sunlight for 15 minutes is very good and natural for Vitamin D. However, since you are pregnant, please consult your doctor to see if you need additional tablets to keep you and the baby healthy.

While you can get some Vitamin D from egg yolks and fortified milk, food alone usually isn't enough during pregnancy. Supplements are safe and usually necessary, but let your doctor write down the correct dose for you.

My gynaecologist prescribed Vitamin D supplements during my second trimester because my levels were super low. It really helped with my joint pain. Definitely ask your doctor to check your levels and give you the right dose.

I was researching this recently for my wife. It seems most pregnant women in India are actually deficient in Vitamin D, so doctors almost always prescribe it. But the exact daily or weekly dose depends on your blood test results.

Do not just start taking random high-dose Vitamin D sachets because someone on the internet said so. Excess Vitamin D can cause toxicity. Let your OB-GYN run a simple blood test and prescribe the exact medical dosage.
