Can gallstones cause weight loss?

My friend was telling me that his gallstones made him lose a lot of weight before his surgery. I'm also having gallstone issues and have noticed some weight reduction. Can gallstones really cause you to lose weight?

When you have gallstones, digesting fatty vegetarian foods like paneer or ghee becomes very difficult, which naturally makes people cut down their food intake and lose weight. However, losing weight too rapidly is not healthy, so please seek a doctor's advice.

Yes, gallstones can lead to weight loss because they make eating very painful, leading to a reduced appetite. Please try not to worry, but do consult a doctor to get the right treatment.

It is completely normal to lose some weight when your gallbladder isn't functioning well, so don't let it scare you. Your body is just avoiding foods that cause pain. Let us get you scheduled with a good doctor so we can fix this.

Man, when you can't touch chole bhature or paranthas without getting a stomach ache, weight loss is bound to happen! It is a sad way to lose weight, honestly. Get those stones sorted out soon so you can enjoy food again.

Dealing with PCOS has made me realize how sensitive our digestive systems are. Gallstones can definitely cause weight loss due to poor nutrient absorption and nausea, but since weight changes can be tricky, it is best to get a doctor's opinion.

Hey, don't stress too much about the weight drop, buddy. It is just your body reacting to the stone issues and cutting down on heavy digestion. Just get a doctor to check it out soon so you can get back to your healthy self!

Our bodies communicate through these shifts when there is a lack of ease inside. Focus on eating simple, pure foods that bring comfort, stay positive, and let a qualified doctor guide your healing journey.

Yes, poor fat absorption and eating less due to chronic pain will absolutely cause weight loss. Don't wait for your nutrition levels to crash completely. Get an ultrasound done and see a doctor right away.

While weight loss is common with gallstones, sudden or rapid weight loss should never be ignored as it can lead to other complications. Please get it checked by a gastroenterologist for your own safety.

Yes, but unexplained weight loss needs proper investigation. To manage costs, I suggest getting a basic abdominal ultrasound done at a reliable diagnostic lab first, and then taking that report to a government or budget-friendly specialist.

I had gallstones last year and lost about 6 kgs because I was too afraid to eat anything spicy or oily due to the sharp pain. That was just my experience, so please consult a medical professional for your specific condition.
