Can dehydration cause weight loss?

I've noticed some unintentional weight loss recently, and I'm a bit concerned. I also realized I've been really bad at keeping myself hydrated, especially with my busy schedule. Can not drinking enough water actually lead to losing weight?

Yes, dehydration causes temporary weight loss by depleting your body's water stores, but it returns as soon as you rehydrate.

Yes, but it is purely 'water weight' loss, not actual fat loss. When you are dehydrated, your muscles lose water volume, which makes you look flatter and weigh less on the scale temporarily. To lose actual fat, you need a proper diet and workout, not dehydration.

Losing weight through dehydration is like drying up a beautiful plant; it weakens your vitality and inner energy. True wellness comes from nourishing the body with pure water and gentle yoga twists that stimulate healthy digestion. Drink enough water to keep your body balanced.

In my 70 years, I have seen many young people trying crash diets and drinking less water to look slim. This water loss is temporary and only causes kidney problems and wrinkles. Eat well, drink plenty of fresh water, and stay happy—that is the real secret to health.

Dehydration can suppress your appetite temporarily, leading to eating less and losing weight. However, this is highly unhealthy for your digestive system. Please focus on a balanced vegetarian diet rich in watery vegetables like bottle gourd and cucumber instead of skipping water.

My elders always said that losing weight by not drinking water only makes the body weak and tired. We should drink coconut water or home-cooked rice gruel to stay healthy. If you have sudden, unexplained weight loss, please consult a good doctor instead of ignoring it.
