Can crestor cause hair loss in women?

My doctor prescribed Crestor a few months ago for my high cholesterol. Lately, I've noticed significant hair loss, which is really upsetting. I'm concerned if Crestor can cause hair loss, especially in women like me.

I was looking this up for my mother because she started Crestor recently and noticed some hair thinning. Apparently, medical forums say statin-induced hair loss is rare but can happen in women. Has anyone's doctor confirmed this?

Yes, I agree, it is rare but some women do face temporary hair thinning with statins. Bringing this up with your physician can help find an alternative.

My doctor prescribed Crestor last month, and now I feel my hairbrush has so much more hair than usual. Is anyone else experiencing this or am I just stressing out too much over nothing?

My aunt went through the exact same thing when she started Crestor. Her doctor suggested taking a biotin supplement alongside, and it really helped reduce the hair fall. Definitely ask your doctor about it!

I totally get it, seeing your hair thin out is so distressing and can really affect your peace of mind. While Crestor can occasionally cause hair loss in women, please don't stop the medicine without consulting your doctor first, as heart health is vital.
