Can blood pressure meds help with weight loss?

I have high blood pressure and my doctor prescribed medication for it. I also need to lose some weight, actually quite a lot. I was wondering if these blood pressure medicines could also help me with my weight loss efforts.

Agree with others here. BP medicines are not meant for weight loss, so please consult your doctor before making any assumptions.

I know how frustrating it is when you are trying hard to lose weight and hope that your medications might give some extra help. But unfortunately, BP meds are not designed for that, and some can even make you feel more tired. Hang in there and talk to a professional.

Actually, you should check your thyroid levels too, as sudden weight changes are often connected to that. BP medicines are purely to regulate pressure, not for shedding fat. It is best to schedule a full checkup and follow up with your doctor.

In our family, elders always say that eating balanced food is the only way to manage weight. However, some BP tablets like diuretics can remove excess water from your body, making you feel lighter. But please trust your doctor's advice on this and don't use them for weight control.

Bro, absolutely not. I have been on BP pills for a year now and they don't do anything for fat loss. You still have to hit the gym and watch what you eat if you want to lose weight. Don't use these meds for anything other than BP.

From a clinical perspective, some blood pressure medications like diuretics might reduce fluid retention, which can show up as minor weight loss on the scale. However, this is not a fat loss solution. Consulting your doctor is the safest and most effective path.
