Can birth control cause weight loss?

I'm starting birth control soon, and a friend mentioned it sometimes causes weight changes. Is it possible that birth control can lead to weight loss for some women?

I was actually reading up on this because my cousin noticed some weight changes. It seems rare but definitely possible if the pill changes your water retention or appetite. Quite interesting how everyone reacts differently!

Usually, people talk about weight gain on the pill, but hormonal changes can sometimes reduce appetite or cause weight loss too. Since hormones affect everything, get your thyroid levels checked as well just to be safe.

If you are losing weight, make sure you are still eating nutrient-dense foods like nuts, sprouts, and paneer. Sometimes the pill causes mild nausea, which might be making you eat less without realizing it.

If you plan to get blood tests to check your hormone levels, look for package deals online instead of going to expensive private hospitals. A basic health package with thyroid and CBC will save you a lot of money.

Yes, I actually lost about 3 kgs when I first started my pill because my constant bloating went down. Just monitor it for a couple of months and ensure you aren't losing weight too rapidly.
