Can berberine cause liver damage?

My Ayurvedic doctor suggested berberine for my sugar levels, but my aunt recently had some liver issues. I want to know if this supplement can potentially damage the liver.

I always believe in staying active with daily walks and a clean diet to support liver health naturally. Berberine is a very strong supplement, and high doses can sometimes stress the liver instead of helping. Better to discuss it with your doctor first and stick to natural exercise routines.

I love trying natural herbs for my digestion, but we must remember that herbal doesn't always mean completely harmless. In high amounts, berberine can put pressure on your liver. It is much safer to consult a family doctor who knows your health history before taking it.

If you are busy like me, you don't want to deal with sudden health complications. Berberine has some side effects if taken in incorrect dosages, including liver strain. Save yourself some time and future trouble by getting a quick liver function test and consulting your doctor first.

Actually, berberine is often studied for improving liver health, but at very high doses or when mixed with other medicines, it can cause toxicity. It uses the same liver enzymes as many prescription drugs. So, please share your full list of medications with your physician before starting it.

Let's be clear: berberine is highly potent and metabolized by the liver, so misuse can definitely lead to issues. It is not like your daily multivitamin. Do your liver a favor, get a proper blood test done, and consult an expert before popping these pills.

I read so many mixed reviews online about berberine causing liver enzymes to fluctuate and it literally kept me awake all night. It is scary to think a natural supplement could do that. Please don't take any chances and get a doctor's opinion to be absolutely safe.

A lot of girls in my PCOS support groups talk about taking berberine for insulin resistance, but I am always very cautious. It can affect your liver if the dosage is too high or if you take it for too long without breaks. Please consult your gynecologist or endocrinologist before starting.

Whenever I start any supplement, I go straight to my hospital and ask my physician to explain the pros and cons clearly. Berberine can affect liver enzymes in some individuals, especially if there are existing conditions. Don't self-medicate, just ask your doctor.
