Can b12 deficiency cause weight loss?

I've been losing a bit of weight without really trying to change my diet or exercise much. My doctor found out I have a B12 deficiency. Is it possible that this deficiency is causing me to lose weight?

You can try having fermented ragi or homemade curd to help with mild stomach issues, as they are good for digestion. However, if you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight loss, please do not rely on home tips. Go see a doctor immediately to check for any serious underlying issues.

I panicked so much when I started losing weight without trying, thinking it was something terrible. But it turned out my severe B12 deficiency was causing constant nausea and loss of appetite. Once my doctor started me on supplements, my appetite came back and my weight returned to normal.

Hey, take a deep breath. Yes, B12 deficiency can sometimes lead to weight loss due to low appetite, but it is very easily treatable. Just visit your doctor, get the blood test done, and they will put you on the right supplements. You'll be perfectly fine.

I wish my weight loss was due to some magical diet, but when my B12 dropped, I was just too tired to even chew my food! Yes, it can cause weight loss because of fatigue and loss of appetite. Get your levels checked before you shrink anymore.

Yes, many people in our group have reported weight loss when their B12 was low. It usually happens because a deficiency can cause mild digestive issues or a metallic taste in the mouth, which reduces your appetite. Get a quick blood test done and consult your family doctor.

Yes, it actually can! Low B12 can make you feel super tired and reduce your appetite, which leads to weight loss. Don't worry too much, just get your levels checked and your doctor will help you fix it easily.

I totally get it, losing weight suddenly can be really scary and confusing. B12 deficiency often causes fatigue and nausea, which naturally makes you eat less and lose weight. Please don't stress, just consult your doctor and they will help you get your health back.

I experienced this firsthand. Severe B12 deficiency can cause mild gastritis, which makes you feel full very quickly and leads to weight loss. My advice is to get a routine blood test done and don't self-medicate; let a proper doctor decide the dosage.

My college-going son lost a lot of weight last semester, and we were so worried. His tests showed his B12 was extremely low due to poor hostel food. We started giving him the B12 tablets his doctor prescribed, and he has regained his healthy weight now.

I literally just recovered from this last month. My B12 levels had dropped to 120 and I had lost about 4 kgs because food just didn't taste good anymore. After taking the prescribed B12 injections for a few weeks, my energy and weight are finally back to normal.

Unexplained weight loss can be due to B12 deficiency, but it is also a classic sign of hyperthyroidism. I always suggest getting both your thyroid profile and B12 levels checked together. Follow up with your doctor regularly to keep your health on track.

Yes, a deficiency can sometimes mess with your appetite and cause weight loss. A simple and practical step is to get a blood test done from a local lab to check your B12 levels. If it is low, your doctor can easily prescribe some affordable tablets to fix it.
