Can acid reflux cause weight loss?

I've been struggling with persistent acid reflux for months now, and I've unintentionally lost quite a bit of weight. I'm not really trying to diet. Could my ongoing acid reflux be the reason for this weight loss?

Yes, it definitely can. When eating constantly causes chest burn and nausea, you naturally start skipping meals, which leads to weight loss. Don't let it get worse, book an appointment with a gastroenterologist and get it sorted.

Haan na, because of the constant burning and pain, we just don't feel like eating anything. I lost almost 4 kgs last year because of this fear of food. Please show a good doctor, they will give medicines to soothe your stomach so you can eat properly again.

Look, if you are losing weight because acid reflux is keeping you from eating, that's not healthy at all. Stop trying random diets and go see a doctor. You need proper medication to heal the stomach lining.

I totally get it, it is so frustrating when every single meal makes you feel sick and you start losing weight without wanting to. It drains your energy completely. Please consult a doctor so they can help you get your appetite and health back.

Unexplained weight loss along with acid reflux can sometimes indicate a more serious issue like an ulcer or severe inflammation. Please do not ignore this symptom. Get a proper physical examination and tests done by a specialist as soon as possible.

Oh my god, losing weight unexpectedly is so scary and always makes me overthink the worst-case scenarios. Please try to stay calm as it is likely just because your food intake has reduced due to the acidity, but definitely get a doctor's opinion to rule out anything serious.

Yes, my calorie tracker showed a massive drop in my daily intake when my GERD was at its peak because I was scared of the reflux pain. Tracking helped me realize I was under-eating. You should definitely consult a doctor to manage the reflux so you can fuel your body properly.

I panicked like crazy when I lost 5 kgs in a month due to bad reflux, thinking I had some major disease. Turns out, once my doctor fixed my acidity with proper antacids, my eating went back to normal and I regained my healthy weight. Don't worry, just consult a professional.
