Can accutane help with weight loss?

I'm on Accutane for my acne, and I've noticed I've lost some weight since I started the medication. I wasn't trying to lose weight. Is weight loss a known side effect, or can Accutane help with weight loss?

Hello everyone, I just started taking Accutane for my acne and was wondering about this. I haven't heard of it causing weight loss, but does it affect appetite or metabolism in some way? Would love to know if anyone else noticed a change.

Hey sweetie! Don't stress too much about weight changes while on Accutane. It's meant specifically to clear up your skin, not for shedding pounds. Just focus on keeping yourself hydrated because it dries you out like crazy!

Medically, Accutane (isotretinoin) is not a weight loss drug and is not prescribed for it. My doctor actually explained that it can sometimes increase blood lipid levels, so monitoring your cholesterol is important. Any weight change is usually due to temporary changes in appetite or lifestyle.

I completely understand the anxiety of starting a heavy medication like Accutane and worrying about how it will affect your body. But don't worry, weight loss is not a standard side effect of this drug. Take it one day at a time and be kind to yourself.

No, Accutane won't help you burn fat or lose weight. If you want to lose weight, it's all about keeping a consistent caloric deficit and getting some solid workouts in. Use Accutane strictly for your skin and let your diet handle the fitness goals.

Don't believe anyone online telling you that Accutane can be used for weight loss. That is dangerous misinformation. It is a powerful drug with serious side effects, meant only for severe acne. Always verify with your dermatologist before assuming anything.

I track my health metrics daily and haven't seen any link between Accutane and weight loss in the literature. In fact, you're supposed to take Accutane with a high-fat meal for proper absorption, which usually means eating more calories, not less. Focus on clean eating instead.
