Can a pap smear cause a miscarriage in early pregnancy?

Just found out I'm pregnant, very early along. I also had a routine pap smear done just a few days before I got the positive test. Now I'm really worried if having that procedure could cause a miscarriage at this delicate stage. Please advise, doc.

I was absolutely terrified when my doctor suggested a pap smear in my first trimester, I thought it would hurt the baby. But she reassured me it only scrapes the cervix, not the uterus. I had some light spotting which is normal, and my baby is perfectly fine.

From what we researched during my wife's pregnancy, a pap smear is completely safe and won't cause a miscarriage. It is part of routine checkups. Just plan your hospital budget to include these initial screening tests as they are important.

Listen, doctors know what they are doing. A pap smear is done on the outside of the cervix, it doesn't even touch the baby. Don't listen to random gossip, it is safe and won't cause miscarriage.

I was reading about prenatal care recently and found out that pap smears are totally safe during pregnancy. The cervix is sensitive so you might see a tiny bit of spotting, but it does not affect the pregnancy at all.

My wife had one done during her early pregnancy while we were also managing her gestational diabetes. It is a safe, standard procedure. Just make sure you are eating well and keeping your energy levels stable before going for the test.

Actually, my elder sister just had this done in her first trimester. She was super nervous too but her gynecologist explained that it is completely safe and doesn't cause miscarriage. So dont worry about it!

My wife had this done years ago. At that age, we worried about everything under the sun. But the doctor laughed and said the baby is safe inside the uterus, far away from where the test happens. Go ahead with it safely.
