Can a nutritionist prescribe weight loss medication?

Been struggling to lose weight for a while now, and my gym instructor suggested seeing a nutritionist. I was wondering if a nutritionist can actually prescribe medication for weight loss, or if that's something only a doctor can do. Want to know my options before I visit.

Actually, nutritionists cannot prescribe medicines. Only a registered medical doctor or endocrinologist can do that. My doctor told me that nutritionists can only guide you on diet plans and lifestyle changes, not write medical prescriptions.

I totally get it, losing weight is so exhausting and sometimes you just want a quicker solution. But a nutritionist isn't allowed to prescribe pills. It is better to consult an MD doctor if you feel you need medical help for weight loss.

No bro, they can't. I went to a nutritionist last year thinking they would give me some fat burners, but they said only doctors can prescribe those. They only give diet charts and advice on workouts.

Stay positive and take care of your beautiful body. Nutritionists help us heal through food, which is the best medicine. For actual chemical prescriptions, you will have to visit a medical practitioner. Trust the natural process.

No, they don't have the authority to prescribe medicines. Honestly, home-cooked food, warm water with lemon, and portion control are much better than taking weight loss pills. But if you have hormonal issues like thyroid, do see a specialist.
