Are veggie straws good for weight loss?

These 'veggie straws' looked interesting in the supermarket, they sound like a good, light snack. I'm trying to lose some weight, so I'm looking for things that aren't too heavy. Are these veggie straws actually a good option for weight loss, or is it just marketing?

Beta, don't go by the word 'veggie' on the packet. They are mostly made of potato starch and oil, which is not very different from regular chips. For weight loss, it is much better to eat real raw vegetables like cucumbers or carrots.

Actually, those veggie straws have almost the same calories and fat as normal potato chips. They lack fiber and protein, so they won't keep you full. Better to snack on a handful of roasted makhana if you get hungry between meals.

My mother always tells me to avoid packaged snacks because of the high salt content, and our family doctor also agreed. Veggie straws are just processed starch. It is much safer and healthier to stick to natural home-made snacks.

When you are dealing with thyroid issues, processed foods with high sodium can cause water retention. Don't rely on these packaged snacks for weight loss. Get your blood levels checked regularly and plan your diet with a professional.
