Are suppositories safe during pregnancy?

In my second trimester, and my doctor prescribed a suppository for a minor issue. Really cautious about anything I take while pregnant. Are suppositories generally considered safe to use during this time, or should I be worried?

Please do not use any over-the-counter medicine or suppositories during pregnancy without asking your doctor first. It is a very delicate time, and we must be extra careful. If you have severe pain, leaking, or any cramps, please go to the hospital immediately.

I was looking this up for my sister because she is pregnant and suffering from bad constipation. It seems some suppositories are safe while others are absolutely not recommended. She is waiting to ask her gynecologist before using anything.

Please consult your gynecologist before using any suppository. It is always better to be completely safe during pregnancy.

While some glycerin suppositories are prescribed by doctors for severe constipation, you should never self-medicate during pregnancy. Always get your gynecologist's approval first. Try increasing your fiber intake with fruits and drinking plenty of warm water.

I am in my second trimester and my doctor suggested a mild suppository, but I am still so terrified to use it. Did anyone else use them during their pregnancy? Did everything turn out completely fine?

A doctor's consultation fee is much cheaper than dealing with any health complications later. Please don't try to self-manage this at home. Budget for a quick clinic visit or online consultation to get a safe prescription from your gynecologist.

For mild constipation during pregnancy, eating prunes, drinking warm milk, and walking gently can help naturally. But please avoid using any suppositories without your doctor's advice. If you ever feel severe cramping or notice any spotting, please see a doctor immediately.
