Are push ups good for weight loss?
I want to get fit and lose my belly fat, but I don't have time for the gym every day. My friend suggested doing push-ups daily. Are push-ups really effective for overall weight loss, especially when done at home?

Push ups are great because you don't need any expensive gym membership to do them. They build strength and burn calories, which helps in weight loss. Just do 3 sets of 10 daily at home, it works well if you eat clean.
Push ups build upper body muscle, and more muscle means a higher metabolic rate, which burns fat faster. But they aren't a high-calorie-burning cardio workout. Combine them with a clean diet and some running for actual weight loss.
They are excellent for body recomposition because they target your chest, shoulders, and core. While they burn some calories, weight loss mainly happens in the kitchen. Keep doing your push ups, but also keep your daily calorie intake in check.

Isometric and heavy strength exercises like push ups can temporarily raise your blood pressure. Since I manage high BP, my doctor suggested focusing on brisk walking first. If you have health conditions, check with your physician before starting push ups.
