Are lentils good for weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight and incorporate more healthy foods into my diet. I eat a lot of lentils already, but I'm curious if they actually help with weight loss. Does eating more dal contribute to shedding kilos?

At our home, my grandmother always says having a bowl of warm rasam or thick boiled dal keeps the body light and healthy. But when I wanted to lose weight, I consulted my doctor first to make sure my protein levels were fine. He agreed that lentils are excellent for this as they keep you full for longer.

You don't need fancy quinoa or chia seeds to lose weight, simple ghar ki dal is perfect. Just have a bowl of yellow moong dal with less oil and lots of veggies added to it. It is cheap, easy to make, and keeps you full till dinner so you don't snack on junk.

My teenage son was struggling with weight gain last year, so I started replacing his evening fried snacks with a bowl of boiled chana or sprouted green moong. It helped him feel energetic and also controlled his junk food cravings. Just make sure to prepare it with minimal oil and fresh onions and tomatoes.

They definitely help because of the fiber, but if you are struggling with weight, please get your thyroid checked too. I kept changing my diet but nothing worked until my doctor adjusted my thyroid dosage. Keep getting regular blood tests and follow your physician's advice closely.

Absolutely, they are a solid source of plant protein and fiber. If you are on a calorie deficit, lentils are a must-have because they prevent those annoying midnight hunger pangs. Just watch the ghee tadka and you are good to go.
