Are laxatives safe during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester and have been dealing with a lot of constipation lately, it's really uncomfortable. My doctor suggested I can take something mild, but I'm worried about using laxatives during pregnancy. Are they generally considered safe?

No, many stimulant laxatives are not safe as they can cause uterine contractions. Always ask your gynecologist before taking anything.

Pregnancy cravings are wild, but constipation is a real party pooper. Avoid OTC laxatives because they can be risky for the baby. Better to increase fiber through fruits and check with your doc.

Hey! 🌸 Please avoid taking laxatives on your own during pregnancy as some can cause cramps. Drink lots of water and eat apples, and definitely run it by your doctor first! 💕

During pregnancy, everything you consume affects the baby, so taking random laxatives is not safe at all. Managing my health taught me to do regular checkups and ask doctors for safe lifestyle modifications instead.

My mother told me to drink warm milk with a little ghee for mild constipation, which is very safe. But for any proper laxative, please do not self-medicate and trust only your gynecologist's advice.
