Are granola bars good for weight loss?

Trying to lose some weight, I see a lot of granola bars marketed as healthy snacks. They seem like a good option for a quick bite. Can eating granola bars actually help with weight loss, or are they often misleading?

I see this question asked so often in our group! Don't let the healthy packaging fool you, as most store-bought granola bars have as many calories as a small chocolate bar. If you really want them, try making a batch at home using rolled oats, nuts, and a tiny bit of jaggery so you control the ingredients.

In my experience, eating simple, fresh sattvik food gives the body true lightness and energy. Granola bars are highly processed and often full of artificial sweeteners, which can disturb your digestion. Try snacking on a handful of soaked almonds and raisins instead, they are much closer to nature.

Beta, these modern packed snacks are not the right way to lose weight. In our times, we ate simple roasted chana or puffed rice (murmura) with a little peanut, which kept us full for hours without any chemicals. Trust our traditional foods, they are much better for the body.

I completely understand the frustration of trying to find 'healthy' snacks and feeling overwhelmed by the endless options in the supermarket. I used to eat granola bars daily thinking they would help me lose weight, but they actually stalled my progress because of the hidden sugars. Take it easy and try whole foods instead.

From my experience managing blood sugar, granola bars are a huge trap because they cause sudden insulin spikes, which actually makes you feel hungrier later. For successful weight loss, you need to keep your insulin levels stable. It is better to opt for roasted seeds or plain unsweetened nuts.

Honestly, spending 50 or 60 rupees on a tiny granola bar that doesn't even fill your stomach is a waste of money. Just eat a bowl of homemade oats upma or a simple boiled egg. It is way cheaper, fills you up properly, and is actually excellent for weight loss.

My mother always tells me that packed snacks are never good for health, but I still checked with my doctor during my weight loss consultation. He confirmed that granola bars are often high in calories and sugar syrup, which slows down fat loss. He advised eating sprouts or boiled sundal instead.
