Are essential oils safe for pregnancy?

I love using essential oils for relaxation and for general well-being, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm being extra cautious with everything. Are essential oils safe to use during pregnancy, or should I avoid them completely?

Oh, I would be so terrified to use them because some essential oils are known to trigger uterine contractions! Things like rosemary or sage are supposedly very risky during pregnancy. Please, please be super careful and run every single oil by your gynecologist before even opening the bottle.

Don't blindly buy into the 'natural means safe' marketing on the internet. Many essential oils are highly concentrated and can be toxic if used incorrectly during pregnancy. You must verify their safety directly with your doctor rather than trusting random aromatherapy blogs.

I totally panicked when I realized my favorite lavender diffuser was running in my room during my first trimester. But my doctor calmed me down and said mild diffusion of safe oils like lavender or citrus is totally fine in a ventilated room. Just avoid applying them directly on the skin or swallowing them.

Based on my research, certain oils like jasmine, clary sage, and rosemary should be strictly avoided as they can stimulate the uterus. My doctor advised that if I want to use milder oils like chamomile, they must always be heavily diluted in a carrier oil and used only after the first trimester. Always consult your OB-GYN first.

Honestly, the only oils I care about during my wife's pregnancy are the ones used to fry her favorite samosas, haha! But jokes aside, she avoided essential oils completely because her doctor said some scents can trigger bad morning sickness. Better to stick to yummy food cravings instead!
