Are dental caries cavities?

My dentist recently told me I have dental caries. I thought it was just a fancy term, but I'm confused, is it the same thing as a cavity? I'm a bit worried about my tooth health.

Honestly, I used to get so confused by these terms. When my dentist told me I had dental caries last year, I realized it just meant a cavity was starting to form. Getting a simple filling done early saved me from a lot of pain later.

Oh god, yes, they are basically the same thing! I read so much about this online because I was terrified of tooth decay spreading to the root. Please don't stress, but do get a dentist to look at it quickly so it doesn't get worse.

Haan yaara, caries is just the fancy scientific name for cavities. My doc used that word and I got so scared thinking it was some big disease. Turns out it was just a tiny cavity from all the late-night sweet cravings.

Yes, but please don't take them lightly. I ignored my caries thinking it's just a small cavity, and it turned into a severe root canal infection that caused me months of pain. Go see a proper dentist immediately before it reaches the nerve.

Haan beta, caries aur cavity ek hi cheez hoti hai, wahi jise hum aam bhasha mein keeda lagna bolte hain. Apne doctor babu ko dikha lo, thoda sa saaf karke theek kar denge. Pareshan mat hona bilkul.
