Are antibiotics safe during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and recently got a bad urinary tract infection. My doctor prescribed antibiotics, but I'm really worried about taking any medication during pregnancy. Are antibiotics safe during pregnancy, or should I be looking for alternatives?

I totally get it, pregnancy makes you worry about every single thing you put in your body. It is so stressful when you fall sick during these nine months. Just trust your doctor, they know exactly which category of medicine is safe for the baby.

Some are totally safe and some are not, so never self-medicate now. Always ask your gynecologist first before taking even a single tablet.

Congratulations on the good news! But please keep Google away for a while, otherwise it will tell you even water is risky right now. Just show your doc, they have spent years studying this so you don't have to stress your brain!

Actually, antibiotics are classified into different FDA categories. My gynecologist told me that penicillin and cephalosporins are generally considered safe during pregnancy, while others like tetracyclines should be avoided. It completely depends on the type of infection and the trimester you are in.

Dekho, simple baat hai. Do not touch any old antibiotic lying around in your drawer right now. Only your gynecologist can decide what is safe for you and the baby. Go get a proper prescription.

Listen to me, don't worry so much. Doctors are extremely careful when prescribing anything to pregnant mothers. Just be completely honest with your doctor about how many weeks you are and any other symptoms you have. You and the little one will be absolutely fine.

In our community, we see this question very often. Yes, doctors do prescribe specific, pregnancy-safe antibiotics when there is an infection. Just make sure you finish the full course as told by your doctor, and don't stop midway on your own.

When I was pregnant, I had a severe UTI and was very scared of taking medicines. My doctor at Manipal Hospital explained that untreated infections are actually way more dangerous for the baby than safe antibiotics. Go to a good hospital and get a clear prescription.

My mother-in-law was very worried when the doctor gave me pills for a throat infection during my second trimester, saying we should use home remedies. But I spoke calmly with her and we both consulted our family doctor. We must trust modern medicine for safe recovery.

Haan na, pregnancy me thoda dar toh lagta hi hai safe hai ki nahi soch kar. But trust your gynac, they know best. Just make sure you don't take any medicine on your own, ho na?
