I had a terrible dry cough during my second trimester, and I was so worried! My doctor reassured me that a normal cough usually doesn't harm the baby. The main concern is if the coughing is too severe and causes extreme abdominal pressure, or if you're not eating/sleeping due to it. Try honey-ginger tea, steam inhalation, and keep yourself hydrated. But please, consult your gynaecologist for safe medications.
At Apollo, my doctor always told me to report any symptoms immediately. A dry cough, by itself, is usually not harmful to the baby. But if it's severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever/shortness of breath, you need to call your gynaecologist. They can prescribe safe remedies or check for any underlying issues.
Staying active and keeping your immunity up with light exercise (if your doc permits) can help prevent coughs. If you do get one, mild dry coughs are generally okay for the baby. But if it's making you uncomfortable or breathless, that's when you need to see your doctor. Don't push yourself.
A gentle dry cough usually doesn't pose a risk to the little one. I found relief during pregnancy with warm sips of water, steam, and gentle breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom. It helps calm the throat. But for any persistent or worrying cough, your doctor is the best person to consult.
A mother's body is very resilient during pregnancy. A simple dry cough will likely not affect the precious life within. Focus on staying calm, positive, and follow your doctor's advice. Trust in the natural process and take good care of yourself.
A typical dry cough itself is unlikely to harm the baby. The main concern would be if it's so severe it's causing you distress, abdominal pain, or preventing you from eating/sleeping properly, which can affect your health. Also, some cough medications are not safe during pregnancy. So, always get medical advice before taking anything.

My older sister is pregnant, and she got a cough too. Her doc said small coughs are fine, but if you're really coughing hard and hurting your stomach, or if you get fever, then you need to see the doctor. Like, don't worry too much but don't ignore it either!
I had some complications in my pregnancy, so I'm extra cautious. While a mild cough might not be an issue, any persistent cough can be exhausting for a pregnant woman and might indicate an underlying infection. It's always, always better to get checked by your gynaecologist. Don't take chances, please.
