Will a tubal pregnancy show positive on a pregnancy test?

A friend of mine had an ectopic pregnancy and it was quite serious. I'm trying to understand how those are detected. If it's a tubal pregnancy, will it still show up as positive on a regular pregnancy test, like one you buy from the chemist?

Yes, absolutely, a tubal pregnancy will typically show positive on a pregnancy test because the body still produces hCG. But this is an emergency. If you have any sharp, one-sided abdominal pain or unusual bleeding, please, please see a doctor immediately. Don't ignore it like I once did with a different issue; it's not worth the risk.

Yes, sweetheart, a pregnancy test will usually show positive even with a tubal pregnancy. The test detects the hCG hormone, which is present. However, tubal pregnancies are very dangerous and need urgent medical care. If you have any unusual pain, especially on one side, please consult a doctor without delay. Take care.

Yes, a pregnancy test will generally be positive because the body is still producing hCG, just like with a normal pregnancy. But this is a critical situation. It highlights why it's so important to have regular check-ups and follow up with a doctor for any concerns, whether it's thyroid or pregnancy related. Don't self-diagnose based just on a home test.

Yeah, bro, it usually does show positive. My friend's sister had one, and her test was positive. But then she had crazy pain, and they found out it was ectopic. So positive test doesn't always mean everything's fine, especially if you have symptoms.

Yeah, I was reading about this too, and apparently, a pregnancy test will usually come back positive even with an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. It's because the test is just detecting the hCG hormone. It's good to know this kind of stuff.

Ugh, yes, even when things are going sideways like a tubal pregnancy, the test can still be positive. Because of course it can. The HCG hormone doesn't care where the baby is, only that it *is*. It's all just extra stress on top of being sleep-deprived. If something feels off, just go to the doc, save yourself the headache.
