Why weight gain in menopause?

I'm in my late 40s and have started experiencing menopause symptoms, including weight gain. My mother also went through this. Why is weight gain so common during menopause?

I was actually researching this recently because my aunt was talking about it! From what I understand, during menopause, hormone levels like estrogen drop significantly. This change can cause your body to store fat differently, often around the belly. Also, metabolism tends to slow down with age, making it easier to gain weight and harder to lose it. It sounds like a really common experience.

Weight gain during menopause is quite common, mainly due to hormonal shifts, especially the decrease in estrogen, which affects where your body stores fat. Metabolism also naturally slows down with age. Consistent light exercise, like daily walks, and strength training can really help, plus a mindful diet. Always good to discuss with your doctor about a suitable routine.

In menopause, hormones change a lot, especially estrogen goes down. This makes the body store fat differently, usually more around the tummy area. Plus, metabolism slows with age. So, it's not just what you eat, but how your body processes it. You have to be more mindful of diet and exercise at that stage.

Weight gain is a common concern during menopause, often linked to hormonal changes and a natural slowing of metabolism. It can impact overall health, including conditions like BP. It's important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, focus on diet, and have regular checkups with your doctor to manage weight and other health aspects during this phase.

It's largely hormonal. Estrogen levels drop during menopause, which influences fat distribution and metabolism. Also, muscle mass tends to decrease with age, further slowing metabolism. It means you have to be more conscious about diet and regular activity, even small consistent efforts. It's a natural part of aging, but manageable with realistic adjustments.

Oh, this is such a worry! Is it really true that almost everyone gains weight during menopause? I feel like my body is changing so much and it's hard to keep up. My friends also mention it. Does anyone else feel like their metabolism just grinds to a halt? It's quite disheartening sometimes.
