Why newborn baby sleep alot?

My cousin just had a baby, and she told me the newborn sleeps almost all day. Is it normal for such young babies to sleep so much, or should she be concerned? I thought they were supposed to be awake more often.

Oh, I totally get it! New parents worry about everything, don't they? But newborns sleeping a lot is super normal. Their little bodies are growing so much and their brains are developing, which takes a lot of energy. My niece used to sleep like 16-18 hours a day when she was tiny, it's just how they are!

While most people say it's normal for babies to sleep a lot, if you have any doubt, it's always better to get it checked by the doctor. I ignored a small issue with my first child once, thinking it was common, and later regretted not asking a professional. Just a quick call to your pediatrician can give you peace of mind.

Haan na, little ones sleep so much. My neighbour's baby used to sleep like a log, wake up just to feed, and then again sleep. It's because they are growing fast, their small bodies need rest. But still, if you have even a tiny concern, doctor ko poonchna achha rehta hai, ho na?

Ugh, tell me about it! My new born sleeps all the time and here I am, sleep deprived. Maybe they are storing all the energy for later when they become toddlers and run around everywhere? Jokes aside, I think it's normal, like a small battery charging up for life, haha.

Listen, it's completely normal for newborns to sleep a lot. They are adjusting to the world outside the womb and their bodies are working overtime. As long as they are feeding well and seem healthy when they are awake, don't worry too much. But if something feels off, always ask the pediatrician, okay?

I was just reading about this actually! Apparently, newborn brains are developing super fast, and sleep is crucial for that. Plus, they're growing so much, so their bodies need a lot of rest. It's like their full-time job for the first few months.
