Why does water taste sweet after vomiting?

Sometimes after I've been sick and vomited, when I drink water afterwards, it tastes really sweet. It's a strange sensation. Is there a reason why water tastes different, almost sweet, after vomiting?

Haan, mere saath bhi hota hai! It's super weird, na? I think it's because apna mouth ka taste bilkul change ho jaata hai after all that acidity. Toh plain water bhi sweet lagne lagta hai. Bas try to drink slowly!

While it can be normal, I once had a prolonged vomiting episode and developed severe dehydration. The doctor explained that changes in taste can happen due to electrolyte imbalance or changes in saliva composition. If you're vomiting frequently, please see a doctor and don't just rely on symptoms, it can lead to complications.

After you've just emptied your stomach, anything that isn't stomach acid probably tastes like nectar! 😂 It's probably just your taste buds being overwhelmed by the bitterness and acidity from vomiting, so water feels 'sweet' by comparison. Don't overthink it, just rehydrate!

Oh god, I've noticed this too and always wondered why! I think it's probably because your mouth's pH level gets all messed up with stomach acid, so when you drink neutral water, it tastes different. It's unsettling but usually normal, I think.

It's totally normal to feel weirded out by that sweet taste! I used to get so anxious about every little symptom. It happens because after vomiting, your taste buds are really sensitive and everything feels different. Just focus on small sips and getting rest, okay?

Many people report this. It's likely due to the neutralization of acids in your mouth by saliva after vomiting, making plain water feel relatively sweeter. Don't start trying any weird remedies based on this. If you are vomiting often, consult a doctor for diagnosis and proper management, don't trust everything online.
