Why does liver damage cause jaundice?

My neighbour was recently diagnosed with some liver issues and then developed jaundice. I'm trying to understand the connection between the two. How does liver damage actually lead to jaundice?

As someone managing diabetes, I know how important organs are for filtering toxins. Liver damage is serious because the liver usually processes bilirubin, right? If it's damaged, it can't clear it, leading to that yellow color. It's a reminder of how carefully we need to treat our bodies, especially with diet and sugar intake.

Oh, beta, this is like when the kitchen sink gets blocked, no? The liver is like our body's filter. When it gets damaged, it cannot clean the yellow stuff (bilirubin) from our blood properly. So that yellowness starts showing on our skin and eyes. It's a serious sign from Bhagwan that something is wrong inside.

Haan, jaundice is basically because your liver is not working properly, na? The liver clears out this yellow pigment called bilirubin. When it's damaged, bilirubin builds up in your blood, and boom, your skin and eyes turn yellow. So simple, but so serious for the body, yaar.

When we had a family member with liver issues, the doctors at the good hospital explained it well. They said the liver makes bile, which helps break down things, and if the liver is damaged, this process fails. The bilirubin from broken red blood cells then builds up. So, ask your doctor to explain the full process to you clearly if you're dealing with it.

It's totally understandable to feel worried about something like jaundice and liver damage, it sounds very intimidating. The yellowing of the skin can be quite alarming to see. It's your body's way of showing something's really off. Don't let the fear stop you from getting it checked immediately.

Oh my god, jaundice always makes me so nervous because it looks so serious. Is it true that even a little bit of liver problem can cause it, or does it have to be quite damaged? I sometimes get worried if my skin looks a bit yellow in certain lights, has anyone else ever worried about this?
