Why does hair fall out postpartum?

After having my baby, my hair has been falling out in clumps, which is quite alarming. My mother-in-law said it happens after childbirth, but I'm worried it won't stop. Why does hair fall out so much postpartum?

Postpartum hair fall is super common, like almost everyone experiences it. It's mostly hormonal. Your body is just adjusting after pregnancy. Best to focus on good nutrition and less stress if possible. It usually gets better with time.

Often, after pregnancy, thyroid can get a bit out of whack. I had similar issues and turns out my thyroid was acting up. Please, get your thyroid levels checked, it's a simple blood test. Don't just assume it's only hormones.

When you're postpartum, your body needs extra nutrients. Make sure your diet is balanced, plenty of protein and iron. Avoid sugary foods, not just for general health but good nutrition really helps. Check with your doctor if you need any specific supplements too.

Haan ji, postpartum hair fall toh normal hai. Mere bhabhi ke saath bhi same hua tha. Stress mat lo zyada. Thoda supplements le sakte ho if doc says so. Na toh sabke saath hota hai, hormones ka chakkar hai.

Please don't fall for all those online 'remedies' for hair fall. They might do more harm than good, especially if it's a hormonal thing. See a doctor, a proper dermatologist or your Gynae. Get proper medical advice, not just internet gyaan.

As someone with hormonal issues (PCOS), I understand how frustrating hair fall can be. Postpartum hair fall is definitely hormonal. Just be patient with your body and don't self-diagnose. Consulting a gynaecologist is always a good idea to rule out anything else.

Oh god, I'm going through this too! My hair is falling out in clumps, it's so scary. Is it normal for it to be this much? Like, I can literally see my scalp now. Did anyone else feel like it was excessive?
