Why do people take metformin for weight loss?

My aunt has diabetes, and her doctor prescribed Metformin for it. Recently, I heard some people take it for weight loss even if they don't have diabetes. I was confused, why do people take Metformin for losing weight?

Metformin is primarily for managing type 2 diabetes by helping the body use insulin better and reducing sugar production. While some people might experience weight loss as a side effect, it's not a direct weight-loss drug. Focusing on a balanced, wholesome diet with plenty of vegetables and whole grains, along with regular exercise, is a much safer and sustainable way to manage weight. Please don't take medication for off-label use without doctor's strict guidance.

Beta, medicines are for diseases. Metformin is for sugar disease, not for patla hone ke liye. If someone takes it just for reducing weight, it might not be good for their health. For weight, eat ghar ka khana and walk. That is the best and safest way.

Actually, metformin is mainly for diabetes or PCOS, where insulin resistance is an issue. It can help regulate hormones and metabolism, which *might* lead to some weight loss for some people, but it's not its main purpose. Taking any medicine without a doctor's prescription for weight loss can be risky. Better to stick to diet and exercise for safe weight management.

Hey, don't stress too much about all the info out there! Metformin is actually a diabetes medicine. Some people with insulin resistance might lose a little weight on it as a side effect, but it's not a weight loss pill. Taking meds without a doctor's advice is a big no-no, yaar. Stick to healthy eating and moving your body for weight management, that's the safest bet.

Metformin is typically prescribed for insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes. While some people on it experience modest weight loss, it's generally a side effect, not its primary indication. For weight loss, focusing on consistent workouts and a clean, balanced diet is the most effective and healthy approach. Don't rely on meds for something lifestyle changes can achieve.
