My relative recently found out they have kidney stones and it sounds quite serious. I'm curious about how bad they can get. Which size of kidney stone is considered dangerous?

Generally, stones larger than 5mm might cause more issues passing and could be considered dangerous if they cause blockage or severe pain. Always best to track symptoms and consult a urologist, maybe even log it in a health app for them.

Dangerous? Any size that causes excruciating pain and makes you question all your life choices, I'd say! 😂 But medically, anything over 5mm often needs intervention. Don't try to pass a boulder yourself, please see a doctor.

Any stone that causes severe pain or blockage is dangerous. Usually, stones above 5-6mm are less likely to pass naturally. It's so important to watch your diet, especially oxalate-rich foods, but always get a doctor's opinion for diagnosis and treatment.

If a kidney stone is bigger than 5mm, it usually becomes very difficult to pass naturally and can cause serious issues. It's important to get it checked with a scan. Doctors can advise if you need medicines or a procedure. Don't wait till it's an emergency.
