Which magnesium is best for kidney disease?

My husband has kidney disease, and we're trying to manage his diet and supplements carefully. I heard magnesium can be helpful, but also that some forms are better than others. Which type of magnesium is best for someone with kidney disease?

For kidney disease, taking any supplements, including magnesium, needs to be very carefully managed. Your kidneys are already compromised, and too much magnesium can be harmful. Please, please, only take what your nephrologist specifically recommends. Don't self-medicate.

This is a serious medical question. With kidney disease, mineral balance is extremely delicate. You absolutely must consult a nephrologist before considering any magnesium supplement. What's 'best' can be very different and even dangerous for someone with kidney issues.

Beta, when your kidneys are not well, every little thing you eat or take needs to be checked by the doctor. Magnesium can be very helpful for some people, but for kidney patients, it might be restricted. My family has had some health issues, and I always advise to follow the main doctor's words completely.

I can't give medical advice, especially for something as serious as kidney disease. But I do know that for any condition related to organs, doctors are very particular about supplements. My friend's father has kidney issues, and his doctor specifically told him what to take and what to avoid completely. Better to ask your doctor.

Magnesium for kidney disease? Oh god, my brain is already short-circuiting trying to imagine balancing that. This is way beyond my coffee-fueled internet research. Please, for the love of healthy kidneys, ask a doctor. Don't guess, they are too important!
