Which is worse osteo or rheumatoid arthritis?

I've been having joint pain and my doctor said it could be a type of arthritis. I'm trying to understand the different kinds better. Between osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, which one is typically considered 'worse' or more debilitating?

Oh, this is a good question! I've heard about both but never really understood the difference. Like, is one just wear-and-tear and the other something more systemic? Waiting for some insights here too.

Good point. RA is an autoimmune disease, which generally makes it more complex to manage than OA, which is often age-related.

From a practical standpoint, rheumatoid arthritis can be much more expensive to manage long-term because it often requires stronger medications and more frequent doctor visits, sometimes even biologicals. Osteoarthritis might need surgery eventually, but day-to-day costs can differ a lot. Always consider the financial burden when planning treatment.

I'm not an expert, but from what I've read and heard, RA is generally considered more severe because it's an autoimmune disease affecting your whole body, not just joints. OA is more about cartilage wear. Always best to get proper medical advice if you're experiencing symptoms.

Hmm, tough one to say 'worse'! 🤔 RA is an autoimmune inflammatory condition, meaning your body attacks itself, which sounds pretty serious. OA is more wear-and-tear. Both can cause significant pain though! Definitely chat with a doctor to know more. ✨
