Which flu causes vomiting and diarrhea?

My kids have been sick with what seems like the flu, but they're also throwing up and having diarrhea. I thought flu mostly caused fever and cough. Which type of flu typically presents with vomiting and diarrhea?

Vomiting and diarrhea are typically symptoms of gastroenteritis, which is often called 'stomach flu' but isn't actually influenza. It's usually caused by viruses like norovirus or rotavirus. If you or someone you know is experiencing this, focus on hydration and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen. Don't delay.

When people say 'flu' and mean vomiting and diarrhea, they're usually referring to gastroenteritis, or what's commonly known as 'stomach flu.' This is often caused by viruses like norovirus. Actual influenza (respiratory flu) mostly causes respiratory symptoms. If it's severe, especially with kids or elderly, consult a doctor to prevent dehydration.

Haan ji, jis flu mein vomiting aur diarrhea hota hai, usko generally 'stomach flu' bolte hain. Yeh usually norovirus ya rotavirus se hota hai. Yeh common respiratory flu se alag hota hai, na. Hydration ka bohot dhyan rakhna chahiye agar aisa ho.

My child, when there is vomiting and loose motions, we call it 'pet ka bukhar' in our language, or stomach flu. It is not the normal flu that gives you cold and cough. You must drink lots of water, ORS, and light food. If it gets very bad, then you must see a doctor immediately. Don't take it lightly.

That kind of illness with vomiting and diarrhea is usually referred to as 'stomach flu' or gastroenteritis, which is caused by viruses like norovirus. It's different from the common influenza that affects the respiratory system. My family always says to drink tender coconut water and ORS. But if it's severe or persists, it is best to consult a doctor, don't delay.
