Which calcium supplement is best for kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones a couple of times, and my doctor suggested I might need to take a calcium supplement, but to be careful. I'm confused about which one would be right. Which calcium supplement is best for people prone to kidney stones?

Achha, kidney stones and calcium supplements can be a bit tricky, no? Generally, doctors advise getting calcium from food rather than supplements if you're prone to stones. But if a supplement is needed, your doctor will usually prescribe a specific type and dosage. Never self-medicate with calcium if you have a history of stones, please. It's best to discuss with your urologist.

My dear, for such conditions, always seek guidance from a medical expert. While staying positive and having faith is important, practical steps are also needed. A doctor will know which calcium, if any, is right for your body and won't cause issues. Focus on gentle, nourishing foods and hydration.

Been there, done that with kidney stones, bhai! The key thing is that it's often calcium *oxalate* stones, not too much calcium itself. So, if you need a calcium supplement, it has to be taken *with* food, especially meals containing oxalate, to bind it in the gut. But seriously, *do not* self-prescribe. Get proper tests done to know stone type, then a nephrologist will guide on supplement type, like calcium citrate if needed. Drink lots of water, that's universal.

Yaar, for kidney stones, my mamaji always said water is your best friend. Calcium supplements are not a simple choice, especially if you have stones. Instead of searching for the 'best' one, it's more practical to understand why you have stones. Get proper tests done, and then your doctor will tell you if you even need a supplement, and which one. Don't risk it with self-diagnosis.

Hi! As a general rule, with kidney stones, calcium supplements are usually advised with caution, or specifically a type that is less likely to contribute to stone formation, like calcium citrate. However, the exact recommendation depends on the *type* of kidney stone you have and your dietary calcium intake. So, please, get a proper diagnosis and prescription from your doctor or a urologist.

Oh, kidney stones sound really painful, I hope you're doing okay! From what I've heard, taking calcium supplements when you have stones needs to be super specific. My friend's aunt was told by her doctor that she needed a particular type, and only after tests. So definitely chat with a urologist or a doctor who specializes in kidneys; they'll know exactly what's safe for you. Take care!

Beta, don't worry too much, but be careful. My mother had kidney stone issues, and the doctor was very specific about her diet and supplements. They always said getting calcium from milk and paneer is better than pills. But if pills are needed, only the doctor can tell you which one. Please don't take anything without consulting them, okay?
