Where to place tens unit for knee pain?

My doctor recommended a TENS unit for my chronic knee pain. I've been using it, but I'm not sure if I'm putting the pads in the right spot. What's the optimal placement for knee pain relief?

For knee pain, a TENS unit can provide some relief, but remember it's not a cure. You typically place the pads on either side of the painful area, making sure not to place them directly over the kneecap or behind the knee. Alongside this, gentle exercises and walking (if approved by your doctor) are key to long-term knee health.

Knee pain can be so debilitating, I hope you find some relief soon! For TENS, usually you place the pads surrounding the painful area on the knee, or above and below it. But honestly, for chronic knee pain, it's really important to see an orthopedic doctor or a physiotherapist first. They can correctly diagnose the problem and guide you on safe usage, so you don't cause more harm.

For knee pain, usually you place the TENS pads around the knee, on either side of the painful part. Hope it helps you feel a little better. Take care.

I used a TENS unit for my knee pain recently. My physio told me to place one pad above the knee and one below, on the fleshy parts, or sometimes one on each side. It definitely helps with the pain temporarily, but proper exercises were key for my recovery. Make sure you get a physio's advice too!

I had knee issues that became quite complicated because I didn't get them checked early. Please, for knee pain, especially if it's persistent, see an orthopedic doctor first. A TENS unit might offer temporary relief, but it won't fix the underlying problem. A doctor can properly advise you on pad placement and whether it's even suitable for your condition.

Knee pain can be managed. For TENS, place the pads on the soft tissue surrounding the painful area – usually one pad on the inner side of the knee and one on the outer side, or one above and one below. Don't place them directly on the bone or joint. Also, invest in good footwear, that helps a lot with knee stability.
