When to take pregnancy test after abortion?

I recently had an abortion a couple of weeks ago. I want to make sure everything is okay and that I'm not still pregnant. How long after an abortion should I wait to take a pregnancy test to get an accurate result?

After an abortion, your HCG levels need time to drop, so taking a test too soon will just give a false positive. My gynaecologist at Apollo strongly advised waiting at least 2-3 weeks post-procedure, or even until after your first period, to take a pregnancy test. It's crucial to follow your doctor's exact instructions on this, they'll guide you best regarding your specific case and follow-up.

Hey, this is a heavy topic, yaar. From what I've heard from friends, taking a pregnancy test right after an abortion isn't accurate because the hormones are still in your system. You have to wait like a few weeks, sometimes until you get your next period. Best to ask the doc directly, they'll know the exact timeframe for you.

This is a sensitive topic. Just like how I manage my diabetes carefully with my doctor's advice on diet and sugar levels, you should strictly follow your doctor's guidance after an abortion. Pregnancy hormones can stay in your system for weeks. Taking a test too early will give a misleading result. Your doctor will likely tell you to wait for a few weeks, maybe even until your first period, to ensure accuracy and monitor your health.

After something as significant as an abortion, it's really important to follow up with your doctor precisely. Don't rush into taking a pregnancy test too soon. Your body needs time to recover, and hormones need to normalize. I once overlooked post-procedure instructions for a minor thing and ended up with complications. So please, listen to your doctor. They'll tell you the exact time, usually a few weeks, when a test would be accurate and safe.

I went through this last year, and my doctor told me very clearly to wait at least 3-4 weeks after the procedure to take a home pregnancy test. The HCG hormone can linger for a while, giving false positives. It was hard to wait, but it's important for an accurate result. You also might want to wait until your first period after the abortion, just to be sure everything is back to normal. Best to follow your doctor's specific advice.
