When to stop taking iron tablets in pregnancy?

I've been taking iron tablets since the beginning of my pregnancy because my haemoglobin was low. I'm now in my third trimester. Is there a point where I can stop taking them, or do I continue until delivery?

It's totally normal to have these concerns, pregnancy makes you think about every little pill! Iron is usually continued throughout pregnancy and sometimes even a few months postpartum, especially if you had anemia. But only your gynaecologist can tell you when to stop based on your blood tests.

You should continue taking iron as long as your doctor advises. They check your blood levels regularly. It's for your and the baby's health.

With thyroid, we know regular tests are non-negotiable. Same with iron in pregnancy. Your doctor will monitor your hemoglobin and ferritin levels. They might even ask you to continue for a few months post-delivery. Always follow up with their advice.

During pregnancy, every nutrient is a blessing for the new life. Iron is very important. Your doctor will guide you when your body has sufficient reserves. Trust in their wisdom and keep your spirits high, focusing on your well-being.

Man, between all the peeing and acid reflux, another pill is just part of the routine! My wife's doc said till postpartum for a while. Just ask your doc. It's one less thing to worry about when you're already sleep-deprived!

Don't trust any random advice here. Iron dosage and duration in pregnancy are crucial and depend on your specific hemoglobin levels. Only your gynaecologist, after looking at your blood reports, can tell you when it's safe to stop. Verify with them.

Just like managing sugar levels requires careful monitoring, iron levels also need close watch. My doctor kept me on iron till after delivery because I was anemic. You need to follow your doctor's exact instructions based on your blood work, not before.
