When to stop lying on back pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and comfortable sleeping on my back, but my mother-in-law keeps telling me to avoid it. At what point in pregnancy should I really stop lying on my back completely?

My sister was told to stop sleeping on her back from her second trimester, like around 4-5 months. She used a special pregnancy pillow. I guess it's when the baby gets bigger and puts pressure.

Oh god, I overthought this too much when my friend was pregnant! It's usually advised from the second trimester because the uterus gets heavy. But definitely confirm with your own gynaecologist. They know your case best.

Arey beti, jab pet bada hone lage na, tab se hi peeche mat sona. Doctor log bolte hain karwat leke sona chahiye. Apni daadi-nani bhi yahi bolti hain. It's for the baby's comfort.

At a good hospital, they always tell you exactly when. For my wife, the doctor specifically said around 20 weeks. Just ask your doctor directly during your next appointment. They will have clear guidelines for you.

Our elders always say to be careful with sleep during pregnancy. My mother-in-law said to sleep on the side from fourth month onwards. But my doctor said listen to your body, and generally after 20 weeks, left side is better. Always trust your doctor first.
