When does swelling start in pregnancy?

I'm pregnant and just noticed my hands and feet are a bit puffy. My mom said it's normal but I'm curious. When does swelling usually start in pregnancy?

My doctor explained that mild swelling (edema) in the hands, feet, and ankles is quite common and usually begins in the second or third trimester, often from week 20 onwards. It's due to increased blood volume and pressure on veins. However, sudden or severe swelling, especially in the face or hands, could be a sign of preeclampsia and requires immediate medical attention.

Swelling usually starts in the second or third trimester. Elevating your feet, drinking plenty of water, and reducing salt intake can help manage mild swelling. But if the swelling is sudden, severe, or comes with headaches or vision changes, please go to a doctor immediately. Don't just rely on home remedies for serious symptoms.

As someone managing high BP, I know how important it is to monitor body changes. Swelling usually starts in the second or third trimester, but if you have high blood pressure, it's especially important to report any swelling to your doctor immediately. They'll want to check for preeclampsia. Regular checkups are a must.

Swelling can definitely make you feel a bit anxious, especially if it's new. It commonly starts in the second or third trimester, often in the feet and ankles. It's usually normal, but if it's sudden, severe, or affects your face/hands, please don't hesitate to contact your doctor immediately. It's okay to be cautious and seek reassurance.

Swelling in pregnancy is a common symptom that typically starts in the second or third trimester. If you have existing conditions like thyroid issues, it's crucial to differentiate normal pregnancy swelling from anything else. Always discuss new symptoms like swelling with your doctor, who can ensure your thyroid levels are balanced and rule out other causes.
