When does milk come in during pregnancy?

I'm pregnant with my first baby and getting ready for breastfeeding. I'm curious about the whole process. When does milk actually start to come in during pregnancy, or does it only happen after delivery?

The body starts preparing milk much earlier than delivery, sometimes around the second trimester. For me, managing blood sugar well was crucial throughout pregnancy to ensure everything developed properly. Don't stress too much, just keep your health in check.

From my own experience, I noticed some yellowish fluid, colostrum, appearing in my second trimester, maybe around 20-24 weeks. It's not proper milk, but the body is definitely gearing up. Everyone's timing is a little different though.

Milk production starts quite early in pregnancy, around the middle. Don't worry about buying lots of fancy products for it right away. Focus on good nutrition, which is more cost-effective. Save money for the baby's actual arrival expenses!

Look, your body starts making colostrum, which is like the first milk, by the second trimester, around 16-20 weeks. But you might not actually see it leaking till later, or even not until after the baby is born. So, don't overthink it, it's normal either way.

People say all sorts of things about when milk 'comes in'. The body starts preparing for milk production quite early, but actual milk, meaning colostrum, might show up in the second or third trimester. Don't believe everything online; always confirm with your gynaecologist.

Generally, colostrum, which is the first milk, can start appearing in the second trimester itself. Some women don't notice anything until after delivery. Just keep yourself healthy with good food. If you feel any pain or see strange discharge, then definitely see a doctor, don't ignore.
