What type of cancer causes weight gain?

My friend's father has been gaining a lot of weight very suddenly, especially around his belly, even though his diet hasn't changed much. He's also feeling very tired. I heard that sometimes unexpected weight gain can be a sign of certain health issues, including some types of cancer. Is that true?

Usually, cancer causes weight loss, not gain. However, some rare cancers, especially those affecting hormone-producing glands like adrenal or pituitary, can lead to weight gain. Also, fluid retention due to certain cancers can mimic weight gain. Best to get a full medical workup, pronto.

You know, honestly, I can only share my experience. My aunt gained weight during her breast cancer treatment due to steroids and less activity. But that's treatment-related, not the cancer itself usually causing gain. For actual cancer causing gain, you must check with a doc.

From a fitness perspective, sudden weight gain usually points to diet, lifestyle, or hormonal imbalances. While it's rare, some endocrine cancers (like those of the adrenal gland or pituitary) can indeed cause weight gain. For a definitive answer and to rule out serious issues, a medical consultation is key, alongside monitoring your diet and exercise.

Hey, listen. It's natural to worry when your body changes. While cancer usually makes you lose weight, some specific types, especially those messing with hormones, can cause gain. Also, sometimes fluid buildup makes it seem like you've gained weight. Don't stress yourself out imagining things; just talk to a doctor. They'll help you figure it out.

I manage my high BP very carefully, and weight is a big factor for me. While most cancers cause weight loss, certain hormone-producing cancers, like those of the adrenal glands, can lead to weight gain. Also, fluid build-up in the abdomen can look like weight gain. Get a proper physical and some tests done with your doctor.

I gained a bit of weight suddenly once and started thinking the absolute worst! It turned out to be just stress eating and lack of exercise. While some specific cancers *can* lead to weight gain, it's not a common primary symptom. Don't jump to conclusions, but do get it checked out by a doctor for peace of mind.

While weight loss is a more typical symptom, certain cancers can indeed cause weight gain. This might happen if the cancer affects hormone levels (like adrenal or pituitary tumors) or causes fluid retention (edema or ascites). It's a complex issue, so a comprehensive medical evaluation is essential to understand the underlying cause.

Weight gain is usually not the first symptom people think of with cancer, so don't jump to the most expensive tests right away. Start with a general physician, explain your concerns. They can advise if a basic blood test or hormonal panel is needed, which are usually not too heavy on the pocket. Then if needed, they'll refer you further.

Dude, weight gain is usually like, from eating too much pizza during exams, not cancer! But I've heard some rare hormonal stuff can be linked. If it's out of nowhere and you're worried, just see a doctor, don't Google yourself into a panic attack.
