What to expect after radiation treatment for prostate cancer?

My father recently had radiation treatment for prostate cancer. He's recovering now, but we are not sure what to expect in terms of side effects or long-term changes. Will he need special care or diet, ya phir will things go back to normal?

For prostate cancer radiation, stick to your oncologist's advice strictly. There's a lot of misinformation online about 'natural cures' post-treatment, which can be dangerous. Only trust your medical team for follow-up care and managing side effects.

I was just reading about this. It sounds like a lot to go through. Are the side effects immediate or do they show up later? And how long does it take for the fatigue to go away generally?

After radiation, fatigue and some urinary/bowel changes are common. If your doctor clears it, maintaining light activity like walking and a balanced, high-fiber diet can help manage side effects and speed up recovery. Don't push too hard, just consistency.

Look, with something as serious as cancer treatment, don't ignore any new symptoms or discomfort after radiation. I once ignored a small issue and it became a big problem. Get every change checked by your doctor immediately. Better to be overly cautious.

I can't offer medical advice, but a family friend had this treatment. He experienced significant fatigue for several weeks after. Also, some changes in urination were noticeable. His doctors were very clear about what to expect, and he followed their guidance on diet and rest very carefully.
