What not to do during pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the advice! My mum tells me one thing, my MIL another. What are some definite no-nos or things to strictly avoid doing when you're pregnant?

Please do not ignore regular blood pressure checks or skip your routine scans. I ignored mild swelling in my feet, thinking it was just normal pregnancy fatigue, and it turned out to be severe preeclampsia. If you ever feel dizzy, get blurred vision, or notice sudden swelling, please see your doctor immediately.

Avoid taking hot water tub baths or saunas, as raising your body temperature too high isn't safe for the little one! 👶 Also, skip the heavy lifting and high-intensity exercises. Stick to happy walks and gentle stretching! ✨

I know the cravings are insane, but strictly avoid raw papaya, undercooked eggs, and unpasteurized soft cheese. Also, try to keep your caffeine intake low, which means limiting those extra cups of chai. Your baby will thank you for sticking to fully cooked, safe meals!

I am just starting to plan for a family and feel a bit overwhelmed by all the rules. Is it really true that we should avoid sleeping on our back during the later months, or is that just an old myth? I would love to hear what others were advised.

My grandmother used to say we should not travel long distances on bumpy roads during the first trimester. While traditional wisdom is good, always trust your gynecologist's advice on activity levels and never take any self-prescribed painkillers or medicines during this time.
