What medical conditions cause weight gain?

Despite eating healthy and exercising, I've been gaining weight steadily for the past few months. My wife thinks it could be related to some medical problem and not just my diet. Are there specific medical conditions that are known to cause weight gain?

From my experience with managing diabetes, certain conditions can definitely affect weight. Hypothyroidism is a big one, where your metabolism slows down. PCOS in women also often leads to weight gain. Even some medications, like those for depression or steroids, can cause it. It's always important to get your sugar levels checked regularly and consult a doctor if you see unexplained weight changes.

Yaar, so many things can make you gain weight, it's not always just food! Actually, hormonal imbalances like thyroid issues (hypothyroidism) or PCOS are super common culprits for unexplained weight gain. Even some meds or stress can do it. Best to check with a doc if it's sudden or a lot.

Beyond lifestyle, certain imbalances in the body can lead to weight gain. Hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland is underactive, is a common one. Hormonal conditions like PCOS in women, and even some medications can affect metabolism and weight. It's important to listen to your body and seek gentle guidance from a doctor for diagnosis.

Dude, I always thought weight gain was just about eating too much, but my sister has PCOS and she gained weight because of it, even when she was trying hard to lose. So yeah, hormonal stuff like thyroid problems or PCOS can totally cause it. Also some medicines apparently.

As a vegetarian who focuses on diet, I know food is important, but medical conditions also play a huge role in weight. Hypothyroidism is a very common one, where your body doesn't produce enough thyroid hormones. PCOS is another condition, especially in women, that often causes weight gain. Certain medications, like corticosteroids, can also lead to it. It's always best to get medical advice.
