What kinds of food should a diabetic eat?

My neighbor just found out he has type 2 diabetes, and he's quite overwhelmed with all the dietary changes. He asked me for advice, but I'm not sure beyond avoiding sugar. What kinds of food should a diabetic generally eat?

Hello, I'm new here. My chacha ji has diabetes, and we are trying to understand what to cook. So, should it be mostly vegetables and whole grains? What about dals and paneer, are those okay too?

Managing diet for diabetes is super crucial, just like for PCOS. Generally, focus on whole grains, lots of non-starchy vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. It's not about completely cutting out things but mindful eating and portion control. It's best to work with a dietitian who understands Indian diets.

For diabetics, a balanced diet rich in fiber and low in processed sugars is key. Think whole grains, lean proteins, and plenty of non-starchy veggies. It's similar to the advice for thyroid patients, emphasizing overall health. Always get regular blood tests and consult your doctor for a personalized diet plan, as every person's needs are different.

I can't give medical advice, but my grandmother has diabetes, and for her, the doctor recommended lots of green leafy vegetables, whole wheat rotis, and less rice. Also, strict no to sweets and fried foods. Her sugar levels improved a lot with this.

Oh, this is such an important question! It feels like everything has sugar or carbs that can spike blood sugar. I always worry about feeding my diabetic uncle the right things. Are fruits really okay in moderation? Does anyone else stress about every meal decision?

Yo, my dad has diabetes, and his doctor said lots of veggies, especially green ones, and whole-wheat roti or brown rice. Also, protein like dal, eggs, and chicken is good. Avoid all the sugary stuff and fast food. Basically, ghar ka khana is the best.

Basically, anything that doesn't taste like dessert! 😂 Kidding, but seriously, lots of sabzis, whole grains like bajra or jowar, lean proteins, and dals. Avoid anything that shouts 'sugar rush!' Like, goodbye gulab jamun, hello lauki sabzi. It's a journey, but you got this!
