What is the treatment for prostate cancer?

My uncle recently had some tests done and the doctor suspects prostate cancer. We are all quite worried. What are the general treatment options for prostate cancer?

For prostate cancer, sometimes doctors just suggest 'active surveillance' if the tumor is very slow-growing and the patient is older. This is a very practical and cost-effective approach because it avoids unnecessary surgery side effects. Just get regular PSA blood tests done to monitor it safely.

Having helped many seniors in my community navigate this, I always suggest getting a second opinion from a urologic oncologist. Sometimes hormone therapy is enough to keep it in check for years without needing aggressive surgery. Stay patient, ask lots of questions, and choose the path most comfortable for the patient.

Please don't panic, prostate cancer is actually one of the most treatable and slow-growing types of cancer. My father went through hormone therapy for it and he is doing perfectly fine now, living a completely active life. Just consult a good urologist who can guide you calmly.

I had my prostate surgery ten years ago and I am still here, playing with my grandkids. In our age group, this is a very common issue, so do not let the word cancer scare you. Just find a skilled surgeon, get the treatment done, and keep your spirits high.

Treatment depends heavily on the Gleason score and whether the cancer is localized. My uncle's oncologist explained that options include radical prostatectomy, external beam radiation, or androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Make sure to discuss the potential side effects on urinary and sexual health with your specialist before deciding.

In our family, we believe in traditional ways, but my cousin's prostate issue was treated through robotic surgery and radiation at a specialty hospital. The doctors did an excellent job, and he recovered completely. I advise you to trust modern medicine for this, though eating a healthy diet will help in recovery.
