I have had kidney stones thrice and tried everything from barley water (jowar) to coconut water. While drinking 3-4 liters of water daily helps flush out small stones of 4-5mm, please remember that larger stones might need laser treatment or lithotripsy. Keep drinking warm water and avoid eating tomatoes and spinach.

I ignored a dull ache in my back thinking it was just gas, until the pain became so unbearable I had to be rushed to the ER at 2 AM. Please don't wait like I did. Get an ultrasound done immediately to check the size of the stone before it blocks your urine flow.

As a pure vegetarian, I had to completely change my diet after my stone diagnosis. My doctor told me to reduce oxalates, which means limiting spinach, cashew nuts, and chocolate, and keeping salt low. Focus on staying hydrated and including lemon juice in your daily routine to help prevent new stones.

Actually, kidney stone pain is the worst, yaar. My doctor prescribed some pain relief and a medicine to relax the ureter tube so the stone slips out easily. If the pain gets too bad, don't suffer silently, just go to the clinic and get a painkiller injection.

While passing a stone with water works for some, you must get an ultrasound first to see the exact size and position. If a large stone gets stuck, it can cause severe kidney infection or swelling. Please consult a urologist safely rather than trying only home remedies.

Honestly, I thought my world was ending when the doctor said I have a kidney stone. But he gave me some syrup to alkalize my urine and told me to just drink lots of water, and the 5mm stone passed naturally in five days with zero pain at the end. Don't worry, it's very common and easily treatable!
