What is induced labour in pregnancy?

My sister is pregnant and due soon, and her doctor mentioned the possibility of 'induced labour'. We are a bit anxious about this, so what exactly does induced labour mean in pregnancy?

It’s when doctors use medicines or other methods to start labor artificially instead of waiting for it to happen naturally. It's usually done if there are any safety risks for the mom or baby.

Induced labor is starting the delivery process medically. Since pregnancy requires precise care, proper nourishment and hydration are key, but the decision to induce should be left entirely to your gynaecologist.

It is stimulating uterus contractions artificially before labor starts on its own. Because of my thyroid complications, my doctor monitored me closely and we had to discuss induction options, so regular follow-ups are extremely important.

It's like a medical eviction notice for the baby when they are getting too comfortable inside! The doctors just use gels or injections to kickstart the contractions safely.

It’s basically the doctor telling the baby 'okay, time’s up, get out now' using medical tricks. Honestly, those hospital hours are so tiring that you just want a safe delivery, however it starts!

When my wife was past her due date, the doctors used a gel to start her labor contractions. It is very common and done for the baby's safety, so don't worry too much about it.
