What is gravida in pregnancy?

I'm pregnant with my second child and at my last check-up, the doctor wrote 'gravida 2' on my file. I vaguely remember hearing this term before but don't quite understand what 'gravida' specifically means in pregnancy. Could someone clarify?

During my pregnancy, my doctor used a lot of terms I didn't understand. Gravida was one of them! From what I remember from my own checkups, it has to do with the number of times a woman has been pregnant. But for a proper medical explanation, please ask your own doctor, I wouldn't want to give wrong info.

Oh, all these pregnancy terms can make you really overthink things! Gravida, from what I've nervously read, is just the total number of times a woman has been pregnant, regardless of whether it resulted in a live birth or not. It's part of the medical jargon doctors use. It's good to understand these terms, but don't let them add to your anxiety.

Hello, I am not very familiar with pregnancy terms. Could someone please explain 'gravida' more simply? Does it include miscarriages too, or just live births? I'm trying to learn about it for a friend.

While my focus is usually on fitness and diet, I know 'gravida' is a medical term in pregnancy. It's about the number of pregnancies. During pregnancy, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with doctor-approved exercise and nutrition, is key, no matter what your gravida number is.

Oh, 'gravida'! Yeah, I learned this in a health class. It basically means the number of times someone has been pregnant, full stop. It's like a medical count, so docs know the history. It's usually paired with 'para' for births. Pretty common stuff in obstetrics, apparently.

My sister was talking about this with her gynaecologist. 'Gravida' is like, how many times a woman has been pregnant, total. Doesn't matter if the baby was born or not. It's just a count of pregnancies. Doctors use it in medical records, I think.

Gravida is simply the total number of times a woman has been pregnant. It's a way for doctors to keep track of a woman's pregnancy history. Don't worry, it's a very common term.
